The Holidays are upon us. This time of year can be overwhelming with so much to do, so many places to go, shopping, and time spent with family and friends. One of the most important things to us during this season is spending time with family and seeing the awe on childrens faces when they see all the decorations and hear all the stories of the holidays. Even with all the things we have to be thankful for, this can be such a stressful time of year. We all try to do so much in so little time. Here are a few tips to keep the stress level down:
1. Decide when you will decorate. Set aside either a couple days on each weekend to get it done, or an hour each night after work until it is all complete.
2. Talk with your family/friends to see if gift exchange is really necessary. It may be a load off of their shoulders also, if you all decided to draw names or just exchange cards. Gift giving can be a wonderful thing but if it becomes more of a stressor than a good feeling, then card exchange or name drawing may be your best bet.
3. If you are responsible for cooking the majority of the family meals, try to prep ahead of time any dishes that you can. There are even some dishes that you can freeze ahead of time and then just thaw them and pop them in the oven when its time for the gathering. You can google Once a Month Meals and get some ideas.
4. Last but not least, ENJOY YOURSELF! If you are not enjoying yourself, then you are not able to fully enjoy the spirit of the holidays and that is what it is all about. Set time aside to do the things you enjoy most during the holiday season and whatever doesnt get done, well, it can wait until next year :)
Have a blessed Holiday Season!
